Mat

Matwork exercises in Pilates focus on core strength, flexibility, alignment, and overall body conditioning. They often incorporate controlled movements, precise alignment, and breath control, similar to other forms of Pilates exercises. Mat Pilates exercises aim to improve body awareness, muscular strength, endurance, stability, and coordination.

During a Mat Pilates session, the individual moves through a sequence of exercises that target various muscle groups, particularly those in the core, including the abdominals, back muscles, and glutes. These exercises typically involve a combination of lying, sitting, kneeling, and standing positions. The focus is on engaging the core muscles to stabilize the spine while performing controlled and flowing movements.

Mat Pilates exercises can be modified or progressed to suit the needs and abilities of different individuals. They can be performed using just body weight, or small props such as resistance bands, small balls, or Pilates rings may be incorporated to add variety and challenge.

Springboard

The springboard is a piece of equipment used for resistance training and body conditioning. It is a vertical apparatus that consists of a wall-mounted board with several attachment points for springs and other accessories. The springs provide resistance and assist with movements during exercises, allowing for a wide range of exercises and variations.

We can perform a variety of exercises that target different muscle groups and movement patterns. The resistance provided by the springs challenges the muscles, enhances body awareness, and improves strength, flexibility, and control. The springboard can be utilized for both seated and standing exercises, allowing for a versatile and dynamic Pilates workout.

Reformer

The carriage of the reformer is equipped with a system of springs that can be adjusted to modify the resistance levels. The individual lies, sits, or stands on the carriage and performs exercises by pushing or pulling against the resistance of the springs. The straps and ropes are utilized to hold onto or attach the hands or feet to the apparatus, providing stability and control during movements.

Pilates reformer exercises are designed to target specific muscle groups while emphasizing core stability, proper alignment, and controlled movements. The resistance provided by the springs challenges the muscles, enhancing strength, flexibility, and coordination. The gliding motion of the carriage adds an element of control and fluidity to the exercises.

The reformer allows for a wide range of exercises that can target the entire body, including the legs, arms, back, and core..
